SUN WILL SHINE: THE KEY FACT OF WEATHERING STORMS

SUN WILL SHINE: THE KEY FACT OF WEATHERING STORMS

IMG_9834.JPG

Yesterday we were driving from one side of town to the next and we started out with regular weather with the sun shining bright. As we made our way to the other side of town the clouds began to shift and the rain started to fall. The rainfall got heavier and heavier it started to feel like we were in the midst of a dangerous storm. As we headed back to the other side of town I've noticed that it was back to being a bright sun shiny day even more so before we transitioned to the other part of town.

IMG_9835.PNG

I said to myself "Wow we done seen crazy rain and a super bright sun all in the same day" and that's when it clicked to me. Life is a lot like the weather we've experienced going from different parts of town. On our journey we are sure to endure storms and it may be even more than what we expected (it sure was like that for us yesterday ). However staying on the journey ensures that you'd see a brighter day just like we did when we made our way back to the other side of town.

THE NIGHT BEFORE: The One Key to Preparation

THE NIGHT BEFORE: The One Key to Preparation

Most of my days require me to get up earlier than most which doesn't leave me a lot of time to lollygag in the morning. A key to my morning is the outfit of the day and I quickly learned that picking my clothes out the day of take too much time out my day and leaves me exiting the door way later than I want.

IMG_9407.JPG

To combat those issues I learned to iron and set out everything the night before and when it comes morning time I can hop up the bed throw my clothes on and dip out.

Often times in our life we wait until we reach a heads on collision with our problem then we decide to react instead of being prepared. Most people fail to prepare properly due to the fatigue that the day has already brought which makes them put things off to the future instead of handling them in the here and now.

IMG_9408.JPG

Trust me when I say you're going to thank yourself for doing those seemingly big tasks sooner than later. So make it a habit to avoid the habit of rushing and being pressed for time instead; do your due diligence the night before then, you can watch as your day go a lot more smoother than it would've before.

NEW YORK MINUTE: THE QUICKEST WAY TO MAKE A DECISION

NEW YORK MINUTE: THE QUICKEST WAY TO MAKE A DECISION

If you've ever been to New York you know people pack the streets from sun up to sun down. During people commute they most certainly have to walk across the street at some point. Due to the overwhelming traffic the walking signals are usually ignored and people make their own calls of when to walk across the street.

IMG_8980.JPG

People darting across the street can be seen as a lesson to use in our everyday lives. When you see an opportunity you must take it , hesitation of any kind can lead to an unfavorable outcome and you can miss your chance to get across the hurdle(street).

IMG_9084.JPG

When people want to take a chance the first thing they tend to do is spend an absurd amount of time deliberating decisions. If people took as much time deliberating crossing the street as they do life decisions, their bodies would've been seen flying across the street. You could wait on a walking signal to tell you you're clear or quickly but proficiently assess the area and make your way across on your own merit.

In our lives we can tend to be overloaded with a bunch of decisions to make , one of the clearest ways to overcome is make a decision and stick it through!

BALL OUT: THREE KEYS TO PERFORMING UNDER PRESSURE

BALL OUT: THREE KEYS TO PERFORMING UNDER PRESSURE

IMG_8688.JPG

Yesterday I was playing NBA2K with my brother and his friend. I used to be a 2K God but as of late I haven't played like I once did in years! My brother's friend placed a wager that I lost my touch and could beat me in the game. My brother was hesitant to place a bet but shortly agreed afterwards. Knowing that I couldn't let my brother down I decided to turn up my game just like so many have to do in real life.

STICK TO WHAT YOU KNOW

Often times when people feel pressure they react without thinking which usually leads to more trouble than they started out with. Crucial mistakes can be avoided when you choose to stick to what you know. While I was playing the game my brother was telling me to keep doing what I've been doing the whole game, as he noticed I was veering off track which would've led to my defeat. Sticking to my trap defense allowed me to secure the victory. Roll with a plan that always worked for you to keep the victories rolling in.

HAVE FAITH

When people are inexperienced they get flustered by their lack of experience and fall short of their expected goals. The one thing that triumph inexperience is faith; having belief that you can achieve a feat that seems so fleeting from you. Due to my years of not playing 2K , my use of controls/schemes were extremely off and I couldn't flow how I wanted. Relying on my instinct of pure 2K knowledge I knew I could rally up the strength to overcome a great and more experienced player than myself.

TRUST YOUR CORNER

Advice is such a tricky subject mainly due to the fact that most people who give advice are in no position to give it at all. A sure way to know that a person is worthy of giving advice is if they share the experience in the field that they're giving advice for. My brother has been playing 2K much more frequently than me and he knew of my previously possessed skills so I could trust everything he was telling me. Him wanting to see me come out victorious enabled me to rely on his guidance and not arrogantly play off my own wit.

"THE PRESSURE's ON BUT GUESS WHO AINT GON CRACK? PARDON ME I HAD TO LAUGH AT THAT" ~ JAY Z

Life can get tricky and difficult but just because something is hard doesn't mean it can't be accomplished, it just means you have to go harder to accomplish it.

WORK TO OUTWORK: THE ONE KEY TO GETTING AHEAD OF THE PACK

WORK TO OUTWORK: THE ONE KEY TO GETTING AHEAD OF THE PACK

IMG_8452.JPG

Today, I was listening to my favorite podcast The Brilliant Idiots, hosted by Andrew Schulz & Charlamagne Tha God. During the episode they brought Jay Williams ( former NBA player & college basketball star) to discuss the 2017 NBA FINALS. They spoke on the downward spiral and pitiful decline of Tiger Woods' career ( Damn Tiger) but; in the midst of that conversation they brought up the fact of how Tiger's drive was similar to KOBE BRYANT.

IMG_8455.JPG

Jay said once before a game he asked Kobe "How do you do it " and he responded simply with "I out work you". "When I seen you come into the gym, 45 minutes into my workout I had to keep working out to show you I was going to keep going even after you left". Jay concluded that he went to drop 30 on them that night in the game.

IMG_8454.JPG

As I mentioned before true competition is with yourself but, if you must recognize others as competitors the one sure fire way to out last them is to simply go further than they would. They run 3 miles you run 6, they practice left hand layups you practice left, right, and reverse layups, so on and so forth. Outworking your opponent isn't just for some vain glorification of self, that intense amount of work shows your passion and dedication to the world and yourself. If your aim is to be placed among the greatest (no matter what field) then its time to get to work because its a guarantee others are pushing and breaking their limits even as you read this. Get to work!

SPLIT SCREEN

SPLIT SCREEN

Often when people are playing this game we call LIFE, many are distracted by what goes on around them. Some seek to undermine the other player, some seek to trade places , and some are just flat out nosey only wanting to see what the other player has going on. It reminds me of the multiplayer video games that featured a split screen.

IMG_7135.JPG

IMG_7134.JPG

During these split screen sessions both players have full view of the ENTIRE screen. However the point is not to look at the ENTIRE screen, there is a specific portion dedicated strictly for you to play your game and that's how we should look at life. Yes there are a thousand things going on around us but Life specifically give us a proper portion to carve out our own lane to play the game to the best of our ability.

So the next time you catch yourself drifting off into other people lives remember that what they have going on has little to nothing to do with you. If you focus on the screen time that's given to you then you heighten your chances of winning the game you wanna play by tenfold.

SOAP AND ABUNDANCE

SOAP AND ABUNDANCE

Yesterday, I was taking a bath and was using a bar of soap that was on its last leg. As I was using the soap I stopped and asked myself "Why am I still using this tiny piece of soap like it's actually doing something"? I remembered I was using to its wits end because, I only had so many in a pack then; I asked myself "Would I be doing this if I was swimming in millions already" and the answer was an immediate "NO"!

IMG_6940.JPG

This realization brought me to how people operate in a scarce mindset. People hold on to limited things because the thing they hold on to is limited in supply. A lot of people are holding on to relationships, careers, even cars that they should've been thrown to the wayside but are too hesitant because they don't have an immediate backup supply.

IMG_6941.PNG

I've made a declaration in my life and with soap, when you see something heading towards its last leg toss the shit out. It'd benefit you way more to operate in abundance than scarcity. Even if you don't know where the abundance would come from operating like you already have it is always the first step.
