HOW TO TAKE EDUCATION INTO YOUR OWN HANDS

HOW TO TAKE EDUCATION INTO YOUR OWN HANDS

Yesterday I started to amp up the amount of resources I would go to, for more information about business/entrepreneurship. This action made me remember how I would handle my pursuit of education during my undergrad years. When my marketing professor finished his lecture I always felt like it wasn't enough and it wasn't specified to what I wanted to know about marketing. So I would always go to the library and go to various websites like fast company,Forbes, etc and check out various books to read in my own spare time. Those actions were me taking my education into my own hands, anyone could do the same if they posses the two traits I displayed.

I. NATURAL INCLINATION

I chose my major as business marketing because that is what came natural to me. I was always conscious of how I was portrayed and I used how I dress, my talents, and my social behavior to dictate how I was going to display myself to the world and that would also have an effect on how people perceive me. It's more difficult (not impossible) to educate yourself on things that doesn't come as natural to you. If you're good at math it wouldn't make sense to thwart your efforts towards english. By honing in on what come natural to you, you can make your path to becoming an educated master on your craft much smoother.

II. DESIRE TO LEARN

I wasn't satisfied with what my professor told me. I genuinely wanted to know more about marketing and how to give my business more reach not just get a passing grade without have any real applicable knowledge. You can have natural athletic tendencies but if you have no desire to put in hours at the gym, you'll never reach your full potential.

Overall true education starts outside the classroom. If a person is solely dependent on one source of learning, that person isn't left with much to grow from. Formal education must be treated as just another part of your learning and never being your end all be all.
