BALL OUT: THREE KEYS TO PERFORMING UNDER PRESSURE

BALL OUT: THREE KEYS TO PERFORMING UNDER PRESSURE

Yesterday I was playing NBA2K with my brother and his friend. I used to be a 2K God but as of late I haven't played like I once did in years! My brother's friend placed a wager that I lost my touch and could beat me in the game. My brother was hesitant to place a bet but shortly agreed afterwards. Knowing that I couldn't let my brother down I decided to turn up my game just like so many have to do in real life.

STICK TO WHAT YOU KNOW

Often times when people feel pressure they react without thinking which usually leads to more trouble than they started out with. Crucial mistakes can be avoided when you choose to stick to what you know. While I was playing the game my brother was telling me to keep doing what I've been doing the whole game, as he noticed I was veering off track which would've led to my defeat. Sticking to my trap defense allowed me to secure the victory. Roll with a plan that always worked for you to keep the victories rolling in.

HAVE FAITH

When people are inexperienced they get flustered by their lack of experience and fall short of their expected goals. The one thing that triumph inexperience is faith; having belief that you can achieve a feat that seems so fleeting from you. Due to my years of not playing 2K , my use of controls/schemes were extremely off and I couldn't flow how I wanted. Relying on my instinct of pure 2K knowledge I knew I could rally up the strength to overcome a great and more experienced player than myself.

TRUST YOUR CORNER

Advice is such a tricky subject mainly due to the fact that most people who give advice are in no position to give it at all. A sure way to know that a person is worthy of giving advice is if they share the experience in the field that they're giving advice for. My brother has been playing 2K much more frequently than me and he knew of my previously possessed skills so I could trust everything he was telling me. Him wanting to see me come out victorious enabled me to rely on his guidance and not arrogantly play off my own wit.

"THE PRESSURE's ON BUT GUESS WHO AINT GON CRACK? PARDON ME I HAD TO LAUGH AT THAT" ~ JAY Z

Life can get tricky and difficult but just because something is hard doesn't mean it can't be accomplished, it just means you have to go harder to accomplish it.
